|Ages: 16 & up||Cost: $62||Prerequisites: Basic Sewing|
English Paper Piecing is a wonderful form of quilt making. It is all done by hand, which is nice if you don’t have access to a sewing machine. If you love handwork, English Paper Piecing is a portable hobby and can be done anywhere. We will focus on the hexagon shape, which is the most common, but there are lots of other patterns available. English Paper Piecing is useful for sewing shapes that have inset or Y-seams, because the angles and points come out perfect every time! It is also a great way to use a collection of fabric that you love. Strip sets or charm packs are great places to start.
Rachael is passionate about sharing, and has been English Paper Piecing for more than 20 years. “It is a bit addicting.”
Techniques you will learn include cutting and fussy cutting shapes, basting (thread basting from the front and the back and glue basting), and whip-stitching the shapes together.
